About Us

Who we are

Morelli & Co. was established in 1957 by Challoner ‘Slim’ Moring, who trained as a panel beater with Rolls Royce and then in 1953, set up his own crash repair business in Southgate.

In those days, paint and consumable supply was very erratic and you waited days to receive your goods. Slim knew he could provide a better service than this and secured sole trading rights for Valentine Paints in North London and Essex. Morelli & Co. opened its doors on 27th May, 1957. The motto then was; “your stock is at the end of your telephone.”

Today, the Morelli Group is still owned by the Moring family and prides itself on providing the highest standards of distributor services. Operating from 14 branches offering national coverage. We are stockists of Glasurit, R-M, Spies Hecker, Cromax, Standox, PPG, and De Beer paint brands and are 3M’s largest independent distributor in the automotive market.

Smart Express

Established in 2003, Smart Express is a range of SMART repair products designed for professionals of the industry.

In 2011, Smart Express became a part of the Morelli Group, bought for their pioneering SMART repair knowledge and expertise to continue Morelli’s commitment into research and development of express repair techniques.

Today, the Smart Express name lives on with an extensive product range available on our website and market leading training at our IMI Approved training centre, training all SMART repair skill sets, IMI Accreditations (formerly ATA), and Slim's Master Detailing courses.

Slim's Detailing

Named after Morelli founder, Challoner 'Slim' Moring, and his passion for the motor car, Slim's Detailing sells the best known and best loved cleaning products from around the globe.

Established in 2014, Slim's Detailing stocks a wide selection of car cleaners, polishes, waxes, shampoos, sealants, and all the detailing accessories you need, including machine polishers, brushes, pads and towels. With over 50 brands and over 2000 products, we are the official UK resellers of CARPRO, Koch Chemie, and Detail Guardz.

We operate online and from our two stores in Coventry and Enfield. Our products are sourced and carefully picked by our Master Detailers, who run extensive testing before a range is added to our portfolio.

Eyebox Training Centre

In 2015, Morelli Group entered into a collaboration with Rob Ally of XL Motors in Coventry to take a share of his smart repair and specialist bodyshop facility to run as our training centre.

In April 2023, Morelli took over the premises completely, transforming it into our own training and conference facilities. During April and May the Centre underwent some renovation changes and we launched the new Eyebox Training and Conference Centre in July 2023.

Coachfinish NI

At the end of 2022, Morelli sought out to extend our footprint into Northern Ireland as part of our strategic growth plans to complete our coverage of the UK.

Coachfinish was founded in 1961 by Leslie Kidd who started out by selling and delivering paint from his own garage at home to businesses across Belfast. The company continued to grow and evolve and a few years later, Coachfinish was moved to a warehouse in Belfast.

Coachfinish remains a family-run business along with Eddie Craig and their sales team. They now have the advantages of being part of a wider organisation with our extensive support services and wide product portfolio in our evergrowing industry.
