Long Standing Service Awards
As part of an effort to recognise staff tenure and acknowledge the hard work of long serving staff members, Morelli Group are implementing Long Standing Service Awards. We have put together a presentation board to showcase our top serving members of staff who surpass 25 years. When totalled, the board spans over 1,500 years of service from staff combined.
Based on research from Acuity Training, the average longest employment tenure for people in the UK is 10 years. 1 in 10 employees in the UK have been with their current employer less than a year with almost 1 in 5 people in the UK failing to stay in a job for more than 2 years.
One of the biggest factors in people leaving their jobs, is fear that their employer doesn't care for them. As part of an ongoing effort to appreciate our staff and to maintain a good employee retention rate, Morelli Group launched our Long Standing Service Award Scheme at our 2025 Management Conference. The scheme sets out to recognise staff in 5 year increments, awarding them with a certificate and gift as they pass each milestone.
Staff being acknowledged this year include:
- Isabel Hillyer (5 years)
- Lucy Wrangles (10 years)
- Neil Bridgewater (30 years)
- Mark Moring (30 years)
- Melissa O’Brien (30 years)
- Steve O’Brien (30 years)
- Paul Taylor (30 years)
- Matthew Hyde (35 years)
- Alan Brown (40 years)
- Jane Carron (40 years)
- Julie Holden (40 years)
- Ruth Moring-Beale (40 years)
- Shaun Plunkett (45 years)
As a family business approaching 70 years, with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation family members working in the company, it is important that our staff feel valued and happy at work. Having multiple staff members passing 25 years of service, with our oldest serving member of staff surpassing 45 years, gives us great confidence in our work environments and company satisfaction. We hope this staff retention and success continues for years to come.
In 2023, Morelli Group featured in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list in the Medium Business category. 89% of staff who completed the online survey agreed that they felt safe and happy in their place of work. 90% of employees expressed that they have good mental wellbeing from their employment. These statistics exceeded the industry average of 61%.
We want to repeat our thanks to long serving staff and we wish to welcome new employees to Morelli. We hope we can offer you a place of work where you feel safe, happy, and appreciated and we look forward to celebrating more staff every year.
