City & Guilds Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Training Course

Duration: 1, 2 or 3 Days

Level 1 - 1 day course

To give the delegate an understanding of the principles of full electric and hybrid vehicles. The course will also deliver the construction, operation and identification of all of the main components and also the key safety aspects when working with high voltage systems.

Delegates will be able to achieve the level 1 Award in Electric Vehicle Awareness through completion of a knowledge assessment. The delegate should have an understanding of key fundamentals of automotive technology, including electrics to attend this course.

What Will I Get Out Of The Course?

Have a good understanding of the construction and operation of electric and series hybrid vehicles. Name the main components and discuss the operation. Understand how to operate in a safe manner when working with these vehicles.


Level 2 - 2 day course

Provides the delegate with an advanced level of knowledge about the function and operation of electric and hybrid vehicle systems and also to fully understand the importance of carrying out a manual service disconnection procedure. The implication that would occur if the vehicle was not fully powered down and how important it is for them and any supporting colleagues to work safely when carrying out investigations on electric or hybrid vehicles. The delegate should have an understanding of key fundamentals of automotive technology, including electrics to attend this course.

What Will I Get Out Of The Course?

Understand the construction of electric and hybrid vehicles. Name the main components and discuss the operation and function. Carry our spacific isolation procedures to ensure the vehicle is safe before carrying out service work. Work safely with these vehicles through in-depth safety training.


Level 3 - 3 day course

This course is for candidates working within the vehicle crash repair and service industry who have already achieved the Level 2 award in routine maintenance activities on electrically propelled vehicles. (Please note candidates can complete both Level 2 and Level 3 awards as part of a continuous 2 day course).

Candidates need to have already achieved the Level 2 award in routine maintenance activities on electrically propelled vehicles to be accepted for the Level 3 award.

What Will I Get Out of the Course?

The course consists of multiple units from which technicians will gain knowledge of high voltage hybrid technologies and an understanding of their dangers. Topics covered include health and safety in hybrid engineering and understanding hybrid electric vehicle systems, how to make the vehicle safe and remove and replace the high voltage battery system.

City & Guilds Level 1 £290.00 + VAT .

City & Guilds Level 2 £430 + VAT.

City & Guilds Level 3 £650.00 + VAT.

An additional cost of £58 is charged for the registration and City & Guilds Certification costs on completion of the course.

A lunch is included in the cost of each days training attended.
